album of the day: Robert Randolph and the Family Band – Colorblind

Song Recommendations: Deliver Me, Ain’t Nothing Wrong With That, Do Yourself A Favor, Love Is The Only Way, Blessed

Continuing on a song from yesterday’s Counting Crows album (except in the opposite way), Robert Randolph & The Family Band’s third album Colorblind brings some cool soul and funk. I saw these guys open for Gov’t Mule last year at Freedom Weekend Aloft, and they really caught my attention. Great stage presence. Awesome songs that just set a fun groovy mood. Robert Randolph rocks out unlike most artists, on his pedal steel guitar. This album feature a lot of songs that you would expect from this band, as well as some soulful slow pieces. “Love Is The Only Way” features special guests, Dave Matthews and the late LeRoi Moore. There is also a cover of the classic “Jesus Is Jus Alright” in which they team up with Eric Clapton. So if you’re wanting some energetic funk flava, check these guys out!

Enjoy!
