album of the day: Anberlin – Cities

18Jul08

Song Recommendations: Adelaide, The Unwinding Cable Car, There Is A Light That Never Goes Dope, A Whisper & Clamour, The Promise

This is Anberlin’s third album. The alternative rock band is often characterized as a Christian band, but apparently has broken away from that claim, according to Wikipedia. They have recently signed with Universal Repulic label which has artists such as 3 Doors Down, Jack Johnson & Lil’ Wayne. They definitely can rock out. I only have the one album but I am surprised everytime I listen to it how good it is. Sometimes bands like this can get a little boring. Many of them also have that screaming that drives me crazy. I can’t stand that. But they don’t do that which is great. This one also has some slower ones that are great. “There is a Light…” is a great acoustic track, and there is a great cover of “The Promise” which you may recognize from Napoleon Dynamite. Overall, a good rock out album. Check ’em out!

Enjoy!
