album of the day: John Mayer – Where The Light Is

Song Recommendations: Bold As Love, Slow Dancing In A Burning Room, I Don’t Need No Doctor, Who Did You Think I Was, Good Love Is On The Way, In Your Atmosphere, Everyday I Have The Blues

Another live album from John Mayer. This one probably goes down as my favorite John Mayer album in general. It’s got a little somethin for everyone. It has an acoustic set with old, recent & new material with a a cover of Tom Petty’s “Free Fallin'”. I could have done with out “Daughters” but I guess thats the one he’s gotta have on there to sell to the teeny boppers. Next he has the John Mayer Trio set, which is my personal favorite. This displays his incredible blues side. John Mayer can rip up a guitar. This is not displayed on his studio albums. And if you’ve ever seen him live, then you probably surprised when he goes off on his solos. So in this set is a good bit of material from the John Mayer Trio album. Included in this set are two Hendrix covers, “Wait Until Tomorrow” and “Bold As Love”. He also covers an Elmore James track, “Everyday I Have The Blues” which is fantastic for all you blues fans out there. The final third of the album is John and his band. Most tracks are off of Continuum, but he does “Why Georgia” for a quick flashback of Room For Squares. Again, I believe is his best album, b/c is shows his talent and variety as a musician. Check it out!
